Our UFC Party is at the Tilted Kilt in Buford Sat. June 15, 2013.
Tilted Kilt has been generous enough to reserve a large table for the Gentry’s MMA & Fitness crew to watch the UFC this weekend.
Be sure to tell the front door guy that you are there to watch the UFC with Gentry’s MMA & Fitness and he won’t charge you the normal cover. It’ll save you 5 bucks!!
Our table is under the big projector in the front of the building. Come join us. We’ll try to save you a seat.
Now on to my overall thoughts, comments and pics for this fight card.
Honestly, I have to agree with most of the experts on this UFC card. I too feel it’s kinda bleh.
Dan Henderson vs Rashad Evans has the potential to be exciting but, I don’t think it will be. I see Rashad dancing around jumping inside and out of the pocket. Hendo will try to bring the fight to Rashad until he gets tired and then the flight will go on to a boring decision in favor of Rashad. As much as I personally like Hendo and want him to go in there and beat the breaks off of Rashad, I don’t see it happening at UFC 161.
Big Country vs Who…. oh yeah, Stipe Miocic, the guy who got TKO’d in the 2nd by Stefan Struve who got TKO’d in the 1st by Big Country. In other words if my MMA math works out for me (which it frequently does), our pal Stipe is getting knocked out in the first round of tomorrow night. Big Country wants a title shot but, Dana White said he needs to fight somebody first. It’s interesting that his very next fight is against another UFC fighter without a big name. Come’on Dana, give the big boy a challenge.
Ryan Jimmo vs Igor Pokrajac. This is on UFC’s main card…. SERIOUSLY????
Alexis Davis vs Rosi Sexton. Another UFC chick fight. I gotta say that I’m excited that the UFC added women. Their are a lot of good ladies out there and they need to a place to showcase their skills. Both of these girls have solid records and are coming off of losses from bigger name opponents. I’m sure both of them hungry for the win. This should be one of the better fights of the night.
Pat Barry vs Shawn Jordan should be exciting. I really like Pat’s coach Duke Roufus. He puts out some incredible strikers and “HD” is no exception. Shawn Jordan is a banger so I expect to see most of this fight stay on the feet unless one of them plans on tricking the other.
That’s it for UFC 161’s main card. A couple of notable mentions on the UFC undercard on FX are the Jake Shields vs Tyrone Woodley fight and the Sam Stout vs James Krause. The first is going to offer an incredible display of grappling and the other is going to be another good striking match.
That’s it for me. I’ll see y’all Sat night.
