The last two weeks have been HUGE for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Suwanee! On Saturday May 3rd , 13 of our members went and competed at COPA America. Some of our members even competed in both the Gi and No-Gi divisions.
First off, let’s congratulate all three of our kid/teen competitors here at Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Suwanee.
It was definitely a big day for them. Mickey competed for the first time and won a bronze medal. Tyler won a gold and silver in his divisions and Ethan won 2 golds and a silver in his divisions.
Winning gold is a big deal for our juvenile competitors because that means that they also win a samurai sword! Tyler was able to take one sword home and Ethan was able to take two swords home. Congratulations to both of them!
Our adult competitors also had a great showing at COPA America. We are proud of everyone at Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Suwanee for how hard they trained for this competition. Here is a list of the members who competed, and congratulations to all of them.
-Hunter, who was competing for the first time, won a silver medal

-Youseff, competing for his second time, won gold and silver
-Danilo won a gold medal
-Antony won a silver medal

-Phillipe Gentry coached all of our competitors and competed for the first time a black belt. Although he was not victorious; through this loss he was able to learn things that will help him improve as a coach and as a competitor. We are grateful to have him as our coach.
Thank you to those who you came to support our competitors. Things are going to start to ramp up for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Suwanee as we start training for our next competition, the Atlanta Open!
