Make sure you are putting good carbohydrates, healthy fats, and quality proteins into your body,and most importantly- make sure you are eating enough!!! Some people who are trying to lose weight simply do not eat enough. A caloric deficit is necessary to lose weight, but too big of a deficit does more harm than good. If you get your diet on point, get enough rest/sleep, and workout smart, then you will not have to worry about overtraining or diminishing results.

As you can see rest, recovery, and nutrition are just as important as the workout itself. Many beginners start out with intense workout regimens and completely disregard the need for rest, recovery, and nutrition. Needless to say, many beginners eventually quit working out altogether because they quickly get burnt out.
